Open-Meteo Forecast API
Open-Meteo
Weather forecasts and current atmospheric conditions for Calm planning and geo context.
Arctelia uses a mix of public APIs, government services, nonprofit data, and locally stored reference datasets to power planning, environmental context, and place discovery.
This page is generated from the repository's provider registry so new data integrations can be documented in one place and cited consistently.
Open-Meteo
Weather forecasts and current atmospheric conditions for Calm planning and geo context.
Open-Meteo
Seasonal climate normals used for planning windows beyond short-term forecasts.
Open-Meteo
Sea-surface temperature context for marine and coastal sessions.
National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration
Tide predictions, coastal water timing, and measured station water temperature (water_temperature product) used in Scout guidance + the Activity model's temperature term.
United States Geological Survey
River flow, water temperature, and gage-height observations for freshwater conditions.
United States Geological Survey
National stream-reach geometry (NetworkNHDFlowline) — the provider reserved for the deferred per-waterbody freshwater likelihood layer in Scout.
United States Geological Survey
Coarse native-range maps (HUC8) for 123 freshwater fish species, ingested into fish_native_ranges to drive the watershed-grain freshwater range / likelihood overlay.
United States Geological Survey
Spatially-referenced occurrence records for introduced freshwater fish, aggregated to HUC8 watersheds (joined to WBD boundaries) and baked DB-free to a PMTiles range fill. Drives the Scout 'Introduced (NAS)' overlay — the only range surface for species with no native range here (brown trout, stocked rainbows).
FishBase Consortium
Species habitat summaries (preferred depth, substrate, current, vegetation) curated into the per-species habitat-preference table that feeds the fused 'Activity' likelihood model's habitatMatch term. Combined with state fisheries habitat profiles.
GBIF Secretariat
Live occurrence-density map tiles (GBIF Maps API) streamed client-side to drive the Scout 'Observed density' freshwater overlay — where a species has actually been recorded, hex-binned by count. No pipeline, no DB; complements the curated native (Aquatic GAP) and introduced (NAS) range fills.
United States Geological Survey
National hydrologic-unit (HUC) boundary polygons — the watershed geometry the NAS occurrences are joined to for the introduced-range (HUC8) fill, and the basis for the freshwater native-range overlay.
United States Geological Survey
Historical flow normals used for seasonal planning and comparisons.
United States Geological Survey
Elevation samples used for terrain-aware guidance and route context.
National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration
Bathymetry tiles and derived contours used for coastal and marine map overlays.
Cornell Lab of Ornithology

Structured place and entity lookup used in location search.
PhyloPic
Vetted category-level, taxonomic-family, and exact-species silhouettes imported from PhyloPic into local assets and uploaded to Supabase Storage for ecology imagery, including structured coastal marine mammal, seabird, shellfish, and forage-fish coverage.
Arctelia (compiled from public fisheries science)
Curated reference profiles for 289 gamefish, forage fish, invertebrate/amphibian prey, and salmonid subspecies/hybrids — temperature preferences, habitat, seasonal peak months by region, fly/lure matches, a species-relationship graph (subspecies, life-history forms, color morphs, hybrids), and curated native/introduced + historic-range / migration-corridor / thermal-limit facts. Compiled from public fisheries science (FishBase, NOAA/MRIP & NOAA Fisheries, USGS NAS, ASMFC, Bonefish & Tarpon Trust, Western Native Trout Initiative, and peer-reviewed literature) with editorial synthesis; powers the seasonal food-web, target-species, and unified range/activity models.
